Bolton’s much anticipated second-hand store ‘Evolve Clothing’ officially open for business

The moment that so many thrifty Caledon shoppers have been waiting for is officially here — Evolve Clothing, the renewed and much larger version of Chez Thrift is officially open for business.
“The last couple weeks have been challenging to say the least,” said Caledon Community Services (CCS) director of community services Michell Veinot. “We got our occupancy at 8 a.m. this morning and then doors opened at 9.”
And was the community ever excited — hundreds of eager shoppers have already snagged some second-hand goods — many of which waited in the rain to be the first in the door.
Despite the parking lot being delayed due to weather and the elevator being installed for accessibility purposes being a little later than expected — the wait for Evolve Clothing is finally over thanks to many community partners.
“This place was birthed out of Chez Thrift which was an institution in our community for so many years,” said CCS CEO Monty Laskin.
He offered thanks to the CCS board of directors, the countless volunteers who helped get things up and running, the local media and financial backers like Argo Land Development.
“For a charity to create something like this it takes a fair bit of cash, we have invested a fair bit of our own and where we fell short, many organizations stepped forward for us,” Laskin continued.
And the result is a newly minted, newly branded, bright 15,000 sq. ft. facility.
The official grand opening ceremonies took place at 2 p.m. Friday with youth activities continuing throughout the night and family fun taking place for much of the day Saturday.
The store is located at 4 Industrial Road in the south end of Bolton.
