A Story of Compassion

“Caledon Community Services provided around the clock in-home care to our aunt who succumbed to the ravages of cancer. She received many visits each day and her diet and medication were monitored promptly and efficiently by CCS Home Independance Program staff.

We were comforted with the knowledge that through the efforts of these professional and caring people, she was allowed to spend as much time as possible in the comfort of her own home.”

Respite Care

Respite workers provide non-medial care and companionship for seniors and adults with a disability in their homes, allowing caregivers to shop, work, go to appointments or on vacation, knowing their loved ones are safe and secure.

Respite is assistance of relief for people who provide care for a family member or friend who is elderly or disabled. A respite worker will go the client’s home to:

Bullet

Provide security

Bullet

Provide companionship

Bullet

Prepare light meals

Bullet

Med reminders

This support is available for a few hours, overnight, daily, or for a vacation.

In-home respite has positive effects for both the clients and the caregiver. Companionship and assistance with daily tasks benefits the client with positive relationships and socialization, while caregivers benefit from time away for their emotional and wellness needs. Respite can make the difference, allowing a person to remain home and prevent premature admittance to a long-term care facility or hospital.
