A youthful look at CCS
by Melanie Alderfer-MowatSchool’s out for the summer. Funny how the old Alice Cooper song pops into my head at this time of year.
It’s a time for trips to the cottage, relaxing and other fun summer plans for all, especially our youth. Hectic schedules, multiweek projects, final exams; then finally summer! And it is always a time to look forward to.
It’s also a time for summer jobs and an opportunity to grow as an individual. Caledon Community Services (CCS) has various services that youth can utilize during the summer months… actually throughout the year.
Looking for a part-time job or summer work?
Employment Services is a one-stop resource with free access to online job postings, workshops, and one-on-one support that facilitate a successful search for employment. You may even learn that you want to start your own business and tap into the knowledge available via CCS’s Caledon Small Business Enterprise Centre.
Are you 15 to 30 years old, out of school and looking for work?
Consider enrolling in the LIFE for Youth program. It is a paid six-month program that provides an opportunity to gain job and life skills through innovative classroom instruction and various CCS and community work placements. Throughout the program, you receive supportive job coaching and gain the ability to successfully discover marketable skills.
Need your 40 hours of community service?
Consider volunteering for CCS in the office or at one of the eco-storcs, Chez Thrift and The ReUstore. You can add skills to your resume, meet new people and help your community!
Overwhelmed with life’s challenges and need someone to talk to?
